Local notebook and quiz
Notebook fields remain in the open browser page. The download is created locally; no form submits to a server and no cookie or browser storage is used by these tools. Leaving or refreshing clears the fields. Keep your own downloaded copy if needed. The quiz and the story stamp card do not store or send your answers; refreshing the page clears them.
Visit counts (GoatCounter)
This site uses GoatCounter to count page visits. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It records the page address, the referring site, your browser and screen size, and an approximate country worked out from your IP address. GoatCounter does not store the IP address itself. We use the totals to see which pages people read.
The retro counter in the footer shows GoatCounter’s public visit count for the page you are on, or, if that page has no count yet, the total across ReallyByte sites. It is fetched from GoatCounter, can be a few hours behind, and hides itself if it cannot load.
Hosting requests
Cloudflare serves the site and may process ordinary request information such as IP address, browser details and requested pages for delivery and security. Cloudflare hosting can insert Web Analytics independently of the downloaded code. Where the page’s security policy permits it, that service may collect visit and performance information. Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as not using cookies or local storage for measurement. Presence of a script does not prove execution in every browser.

External destinations
Amazon links contain the affiliate tag. Following a shopping or source link takes you to another organisation’s site, which has its own privacy practices. This site does not receive your Amazon payment details. The “Support this site” link opens the ReallyByte store, which handles any payment itself. No third-party map or video is embedded.

If you email the publisher, your message and email address are used to handle your enquiry. Avoid sending private addresses, sensitive recollections or another person’s details without permission. Contact info@reallybyte.com for a site correction or privacy question.
